Komodo

characteristics
The average size of a male Komodo dragon is 8 to 9 meters and about 100 kg, females grow to 6 feet (1.8 m).  Komodo has various colors, including blue, orange, green and gray.  Their skin is rough and durable, reinforced with bone plates called osteoderms.

 They have long and large claws, and muscular tails.
 Komodo has good eyesight;  they can see objects as far as 985 feet (300 m), according to the Smithsonian Zoo.  They are also fast.  They can run up to 13 mph (20 kph) but prefer to hunt clandestinely - waiting for hours until the prey crosses their path.

Habitat

Komodo dragon habitat can be anything from a dry tropical forest, savanna to an autumn forest.  No matter where they live, Komodo dragons like extreme heat.  This is usually around 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees Celsius) with 70 percent humidity on the Indonesian island.
